Default Republic or Empire?
You know what this is about. The US is beginning to look more and more like Rome, Brittain, France, and any other empire of years past. What is happening here? Why have we gone in this direction? What happened to the isolationism of pre-WWII times? Why can't we take a clue from Switzerland? If you stay out of their hair they leave you alone.

Unfortuneately, if the US becomes isolationist, we will be criticized and Europe will not have a puppy to batter when their solutions go wrong. If we continue to "lead the world" then we are criticized for being an empire or such. Can't please anybody these days.

Can't please anybody these days. Right on. We can't please everyone; so why try?

MiB In the years leading up to WWII the US foriegn policy was isolationism. The United States tried to stay out of WWI and it tried to stay out of WWII. When it came our of WWII the US decided that it had to be more involved in foriegn affairs.

Meanwhile, countries like switzerland are at peace and have been so since Napolean's fall (I believe that that is the last time that the swiss were invaded but don't quote me on it). The US draws attention to itself every chance it gets and the government has expanded to a point that was never intended by the founding fathers. The US has reached a point of too much power. "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

If you look at history – EVERY empire has always fallen. I think it’s a shame that the US (and Australia as its lap-dog) has seemingly adopted an aggressive imperialist expansionist policy, in the name of “Democracy”. Two countries invaded in two years – and a third possibly about to join them, hmmmm……..

The other problem is that these empires have fallen at a distinct economic point. They tend to fall when the top 10 percent of the population holds 90 percent of the wealth. I haven't been able to confirm the following statistic, but I have heard from reliable people that the US is currently at 90 percent of the wealth in the top 7 percent of the people which would indicate that the economic realities should be causing a collaps. Luckily for the US, the middle class is STILL more comfortable than any other middle class throughout history and can hold the US up. How much longer can this happen if the gap between the rich and the poor keeps expanding, and the middle class keeps diminishing?

Wealth is subjective. Those who try to measure it as a statistic throw some bias into it, inevitably.

Thats why we took over the Phillipines, Puerto Rico, Guam, Cuba etc and have set about expanding our borders since the inception of the country?

Give me a break. We wanted to keep out of European affairs, because people knew even way back then that the place was hardly worth a damn.

Learn some history before spouting off about it.

If you look at history – EVERY empire has always fallen.
China, India, Russia, the USA, Britain (though it isn't as powerful as it used to be,) France...well, looks like your spouting "every mepire has always fallen" has been trounced.

I'd ask you where you pulled that ridiculous statistic of empires falling when 10% own 90% of the wealth, but I have no doubt that the place is distasteful and dirty.

MiB,

There's something I wanted to ask you. Earlier you made some comments about Native Americans (something to the effect of 'good riddance to em'). Now I was wondering if you could tell me, were there some Native Americans in your bloodline?

HMM, so now I need to ask you a question. A couple of days ago, You sent me a PM asking how old I was thought it is plainly stated in my Bio (birth date) Then you couldn't remember that you had posted a particular thread. Now you are asking another poster a question which might be considered personal, but there is precious little information in your own bio. What have "YOU" to hide???

Umm, if by bio, you mean your public profile, no birthdate is given there.

P.S. I never said I couldn't remember posting in a particular thread. I specifically told you that I stopped reading your posts after some of your less than savory posts on the child molestation thread and thus I did not know what you were referring to.

You see, that's why they have PRIVATE messages. Guess we found that one out the hard way though.

Yes.

I should clarify, because you, being a tribalist, cannot think of anything more complicated than 'race,' it seems. Native Americans were barbarians, warlike and not at all friendly - that was their culture. Which is not transmitted through bloodlines.

For completeness sake, I am genetically a mut, mixed with practically everything noneuropean except (distantly) a little bit of Spanish blood.

Because I do not seek to betray myself as you do, does not make me a "tribalist," whatever that is.....

Anywho, I just find it intersting that you preferred the destruction of yourself. Well, I guess that doesn't bother you. How do you justify that you live then, since you say that it was a good thing to kill Native Americans and you are partly a Native American?

P.S. I never said I couldn't remember posting in a particular thread. You asked if I was sure I was talking to the right person I specifically told you that I stopped reading your posts after some of your less than savory posts on the child molestation thread and thus I did not know what you were referring to.You never said any such thing. Shall I post the PM?? I beleive I have that right. (and if I don't, I'm sure the Administrator, or a MOD will tell me.

You see, that's why they have PRIVATE messages. Guess we found that one out the hard way though.
What hard way, I asked on the open forum because I have no secrets, thou you appear to be quite hypocritical.

BTW, I didn't know I was on your ignore list, so I suppose you won't be able to read this either.
