Default A Celebrity with Ethics
I thought this was interesting in that Jessica Simpson turned down a chance for private time (imagine what Clinton would do with that) with the President to talk about her charity. Im glad to see that at least someone knows how to REMAIN non partisan.

I'm not all that surprised. She did make a big deal about saving herself for marriage. I think she tries to do the right thing in her personal life and in the causes she is involved with.

I would be surprised if she actually knew the definition of partisan though.

I thought she was on the list of celeb. Bush supporters....

Maybe she just doesn't want to be connected to the worst president in history. People are scattering away from him like rats on a sinking ship.

That's too bad. Guess he'll just have to get Britney..because, you know we should just like trust our president in any decision he makes and like...stuff.

I don't think Jessica Simpson knows whats going on. Ever. I'm sure she was told by the foundation she supports not to do so, I don't give her enough credit to make such a decision on her own.

I fail to see how depriving the charity one is working for of publicity is "ethics." Maybe for some conservatives I guess.

That is how I see it. Any exposure to her charity can only be "good press" for the charity, regardless of who it is with.

Anyone who would turn away from a noble charity over politics is not thinking of the charity in the first place, but in their politics.

I think the point she made was not meeting the President at a Republican Fundraiser. She said shed be happy to meet him in an official capacity. SHe probably doesnt want to be used to make someone else money.

If she did it, so that her charity would not be linked with a Republican fundraiser, I'd have to agree that it was an ethical move.

Agreed. I am just going on the fact that she apparently accepted the invite, only to change her mind.

From original post:
...said she never had planned to attend the fund-raiser, but Forti said she initially accepted the NRCC invitation, only to change her mind.

Forti said the Republican group had even arranged for Simpson to dine at one of the head tables with U.S. House of Representatives Majority Leader John Boehner, an Ohio Republican. If she really wanted to avoid appearing partisan she would not accept the invite in the first place. With only this story to base an opinion on, it would seem that she did accept an invitation, however "changed her mind". Could it be that the latest Bush polls changed her mind for her?

Keep in mind that had she chosen to meet with the president, it most likely wouldn't have even made the news.

No, probably just someone from the charity giving her advice. Some people actually do things without consulting polls, ya know.

Indeed, that is one fine looking non-partisan!!!

And I was very impressed with her handling of the particular issue. Hopefully she will start a 'non-partisan' trend here.

As much as I can't stand the fact that she is supposed to be a musician but sells nothing of quality but nice views of her tits and ass I must admit that this was a great decision and I hope more like this are made in the future.
