I really don't see what he has done wrong reading that article. It has to do with his reaction to being called a traitor by some people on account for him speaking out about things he feels the government is doing wrong. I don't know what all those things are with which he disagrees (the war being a mistake was mentioned, but hardly a radical view in America but a common one whether one agrees with it or not). Even the founders of the nation got such accusations hurled at them by loyalists. It seems quite American--and even argued to be a duty by many Americans including the founders--to speak out about whatever you feel the goverment may be doing wrong. In fact, that is why the nation's founders put the right to petition and redress in the constitution along with freedom of speech and the press. He makes a statement about being a "traitor" - something which can result in death or imprisonment elsewhere, but here it is a way of bringing attention to a wealthy celebrity. He knows that his comments will never get him in trouble, but he uses words that are acceptable coming from a brave man, not from someone as safe as he is. There are Americans and Iraqis being killed right now in Iraq. I don't really want to hear Clooney giving self-serving speeches. Of course he has every right to say it - but I still find it repellent. |

It may be that he IS on the right side of history. He has the right to say whatever he wants. It is the tone and the attitude that is grist for the humor mill. Insofar as others dying in Iraq, I don't think that it speaks ill of him to speak his mind if he feels it is wrong. Millions did that with Vietnam too. |

How so? What did he do that makes him such an idiot? Donating millions to charity? Raising funds for the survivors of 9/11? Maybe if he got his own talkshow and yelled at some liberals that would be of more use than actually raising real assistance to the victims of 9/11. Depending on ones politics, I guess hate is more valuable than compassion. He has shown how willing he is to join the general hollywood idiot crowd with his comments. His arrogance is beyond belief. He really IS making himself out to be a complete ass. Like most of them. Oh and that nice old george loonie raised funds for 9/11 survivors AND donated to charity. I'm not sure what these are worth, considering his latest antics. |

I can't tell what his tone is, though, from an article, especially one written by someone else putting him in a light of the writer's choosing. Unfortunately it is common for some people to hurl the comment 'traitor' at those with whom they do not agree. It's a cheap and self-serving ploy to discredit others and I'm sure that alot of regulars here may recall having had the term hurled at them on occasion by a detractor. 'Traitor' has to do with treason which is very particular as to intent and acts, and it is a very abused term. Seriously, nobody really thinks Clooney is a traitor (unless they are missing their medication). I only hope he is forced to watch his own bad movies for all of eternity!! ![]() |

I just wanted to point out that no matter how fun it may be, it's basically conservatives shooting liberal fish in a barrel. Which, I'm sure, also sounds incredibly appealing to many. ![]() |

But surely there are many appropriate reactions to this sort of abuse OTHER than turning it into a spitball contest that brings more attention to himself? It is the narcisisstic posturing that irritates me. Your comments about the real meaning of the word treason are more evidence for my own views. I don't want to see these words being thrown around by anyone. |

Some aren't so bad but I think he would cry uncle if he had to watch Juliette Lewis next to him once again in From Dusk Till Dawn. I don't think I've ever seen her play another kind of role than a brain-dead hair-twirler. ![]() |

Could you or someone tell me what he has done to earn any of the negative comments people have been making about him? He bought a house from Kerry, and someone said that he lamented that it was his fault that Kerry lost. Is that it? If so, then the criticism against him seems to be sheer lies and partisanship. What ? Because I'm not a rich, big mouth that makes it on screens in movie theaters means I'm not entitled to critique a rich big mouth who made it onto screens in movie theaters ? Partisanship shmartisanship. What was this forum about ? We're all supposed to agree ? Is that it LOL. |
