Default A majority of americans oppose UAB ports deal..
Can anyone say Islamophobia? I am just shocked at how such blatant fearmongering by the Dems and some republicans is being permitted by the media.

No one is questioning this. Pathetic.

So the dems get accused of being racists towards Arabs and playing the fear card and you cite a link to another thread!

There are already 120 different threads on the port deal anyhow!!

Fascinating.

Even though the top two Republicans are opposed to the UAL deal, it's the Democrats that are doing the fearmongering.

What color is the sky in your world?

The fact that the MAJORITY of Americans are against this means very little.

The truth is that the MAJORITY of Americans have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what is even involved.

We've heard very little, and know very little, outside of the hype.

Isn't that some crazy shite Alex? Unreal. I suppose they think that because Bush sent our troops to Iraq after 9/11 and talked about a mushroom cloud and terrorists and WMDs and how they want to attack us. I wonder if he intended to trick the American people into thinking that?

I will admit I dont know enough about this deal to form a valid opinion, but, I have a problem with the deal. My problem is with the fact that our crucial ports are now foreign owned and will continue to be foreign owned. Call me ignorant because on this issue I apparently am, but I thought our ports were owned by US companies. I feel they SHOULD be owned by US companies, enough of this country is owned by foreign entities as it is, how much more will we sell?

Right wing flip flopping again? They have spent nearly the last 5 years bashing Arabs...now all of a sudden they love the Middle East and are telling their Republican followers to love and trust the Middle East, and it is the Democrats who are racists against Arabs. Unreal!

What is even more shocking is... Republicans control the media to such a degree that they will eventually be able to get most Republicans to take that view within a matter of weeks. Must be nice to control media and therefore be able to control what people see, hear and ultimately control how they think.

Media Matters has been covering this point.
http://mediamatters.org/

The way that Republicans are trying to turn this around is amazing.

lol, were you tricked samantha? I wasn't. I knew the reasons for the invasion as did many other 'educated' people. Clearly some of the unwashed masses were fooled, but they only have themselves to blame. A 'majority' of americans agreeing on something usually means one thing - do the opposite!
PS- this deal is going to be approved.

Amazing. I thought the standard liberal line was that the GOP is in bed with the oil sheiks.

GOP media? Tell that to the NYT, CBS, NBC, PBS.... (you know the list).

It was just in the AAA magazine, Via, that only 19% of Americans knew, one year after 9/11, that Iraq had nothing to do with the Al Qaeda attack against us, so yeah, I think the Bush admin did a pretty good job with the lie.
