Default Mohammed-bomb T-shirt company stands up to death threats
Found on another website, without accreditation.

Good for this company. They can be found at http://www.metrospy.com . They are located in San Bernardino, CA.

I believe it's a considerate thing to take other religions' desires into account, even when I'm not a member of that religion. Normally I would no more encourage people to buy these T-shirts than I would encourage them to buy T-shirts with the "Piss Christ" drawn on them.

But these Muslims who have been rioting and killing people over these Mohammed cartoons, have already demanded, and gotten, far more "consideration" than they merit. They deserve no more. To Hell with them.

I've already ordered my T-shirt. I hope everyone else does too. Kudoes to this company for not letting these savages tell them what to do!

----------------------------

February 21, 2006 -- Conservative t-shirt maker MetroSpy set off a firestorm when their newest design depicted a caricature of the prophet Mohammed with a bomb wrapped in his turban. According to Islamic tradition, graphic depictions of the Prophet Mohammed are forbidden. MetroSpy's apparent disregard for this tradition has outraged many in the Muslim world, prompting some to voice their displeasure by sending the company hate-filled email, online viruses and even death threats.

Johnathan Alexander, MetroSpy's production manager, says he's never seen anything like it. “It's a silly little cartoon. We've sold designs far more offensive than this for years”, referring to a t shirt which reads, “My Jesus can beat up your Allah.”

“For people to become so enraged over a drawing that they resort to burning down buildings and threatening to kill people is something I'll never understand,” Alexander said.

In one email the person writes, “We kill you and burn your shop. I am Muslim with forces in the U.S.A.”

Another email claims to be from the terrorist group Al Qaeda. It reads, “You only have 5 days and your company will disappear. I promise!” The email is signed, Saalem Al Qahtani, Al Qaeda.

One of the more disturbing messages simply says, “In two days we kill your family."

Over the past few days, MetroSpy has begun posting some of the emails on their website.

According to Alexander, “Ever since we started posting the messages along with the sender's return address, the volume of hate mail has slowed down and the tone has changed considerably. In fact, some of the more recent comments could be considered polite.”

In an email which was traced to Saudi Arabia, the writer asks, “Could you guys do a favor? Please eliminate this picture from your goods because it's very embarrassing to our religion. If you do that, it would be a greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.”

Another says, “I am sending this e-mail and I hope that you understand that what you are doing is offending more than a billion people in the world. I hope that your sales with other stuff be billions but not for this one offending product.”

Altogether, MetroSpy has received more than five hundred hate emails and attempted virus attacks.

Donia Saber of Elk Grove, California is an Islamic activist who writes, “I am deeply offended at the t-shirt company MetroSpy. Selling shirts with a picture of the Prophet is unacceptable and I assure you the Muslim community will not tolerate this.”

Despite protests over their offending design, MetroSpy plans to continue selling the t-shirts. As a precautionary measure however, MetroSpy has increased its security, sought the advice of a private investigative agency and remain in close contact with federal and local authorities.

Indeed, I'm sure Al Qaeda also shares in your well wishes for this company. It will do wonders for their recruiting drive.

Yes, good for this company for making such an uninspired attempt at capitalizing on a current event, which will obviously create a scenerio that will give them attention from the media.

I'm sure their "Look out, Saddam!" and "Terri Schiavo" shirts are selling like hot cakes.

You'd say it was good news for them either way.

I don't think I'd be foolish enough to wear one. If you wear one of those, you'll end up getting some concrete shoes right before being thrown over the local bridge into the deep water.

You are only happy when you hear good news for Al Qaeda. You need something to help you mobilize your domestic and international crusade against. You need a pretext to advance your religious fundamentalism.

That depends....they seem to really enjoy beheading those who refuse to believe in their religion of peace, but if you are well armed enough, they'll back off and set a bomb for you. Of course, there's another path they might take: They might start blowing up school children and blame it on you for being an infidel........that way, they'd get several people (apparently even some on this board) to say that you are the evil one for wearing the shirt and the deaths of the innocent children were your fault.

As I said in an unanswered post in another thread: Suppose Christians started rioting, killing and burning theaters after the showing of Brokeback Mountain.........what would people say? Would they say the Christians were just a bunch of evil radicals who wanted to impose their religion on others by force? Or would they make excuses for the Christians like they are doing now for the muslims? Would they blame the homosexuals for inciting the Christian violence like they've blamed the cartoonists for the muslim violence? I think we all know the answer.

Maybe I just missed it, but I don't see that shirt on the site. Is there a direct link?

edit - Nevermind, there it is. Right at the top. And wow, there are some pretty radical shirts there...."Guns don't kill people, abortion clinics do!"

I'd probably make a weak joke about showing brokeback mountain in a church. But hey, I never insinuated that all the muslims in the Mosque would blow me up, I'd just thought it wouldn't be too unreasonable to assume that at least one would find out about the event and track me down.

I think you mistook me for a Democrat. I'm a Republican; we're the ones fighting against the terrorists, remember?

No, I read you right. You're one of those fundamentalists who is new to politics and has joined up with Republican party, so you can fight a new crusade. You are a neo-conservative, neither a Democrat nor a real conservative in the small government sense of the word.

Typical for an "unassuming" liberal, you got it wrong.
