But nobody said anything in the deathly quiet audience. Barr merited only polite applause when he finished, and one man, Richard Sorcinelli, booed him loudly. "I can't believe I'm in a conservative hall listening to him say [Bush] is off course trying to defend the United States," Sorcinelli fumed. So tell me - how do you distinguish a party sychophant from a loyal follower these days? Is there a line the loyal followers cannot cross, that a boot- licker unerringly will? What is the follower trying to achieve, and do the tenets of the party sound pleasing to the ear, still?

And what are those tenets, anyway?
