Default BIG storm....
Hail coming through my part of town right now. (~25th street and 7th).

MUCH lightning.

It seems to be lulling now, but the radar shows more red and lavender coming......

(News or Anything?)

I checked NWS for a map, and read a Severe Thunderstorm Advisory. Was instructed to unplug electronics before storm hits.

Signing off...looking for laptop.

Yep, I just got an extreme weather advisory come over my phone.

The "Bleeeerp!" noise coming from it gave me a start. I did not know what was wrong with it! (and seeing a big red triangle with a white exclamation point being displayed did not help...)

Also advised to move away from windows.

I'm cowering in kitchen, with chips and beer.

Expect wife to walk in, get a "What now?"

Yep, that got me worried about the car parked outside in NJ.

After the hailstorm in Hoboken (10-12 years ago?) that came down like handballs, I can see the damage a short storm can do.

As SM and NH have alluded to, it was wicked here in midtown west. The hail pounded on the windows and the lightening seemed very close to the ground. I have a view of the Conde Nast building from my apt and it almost looked like bolts of lightening passed through the top floors. I am sure it was an illusion, but that does not take away from the fact that it was very close to ground level.

Storm from hell hits Gotham and former Giant snaps it from jet 10,000 feet in the sky

Twitter lit up with cinematic pictures of the T-storm -- including one by former NFL player Dhani Jones (above) taken from a Delta jet at 10,000 feet near LaGuardia, showing a massive cloud and rain shaft swallowing the city.

Awesome shots.

I was looking out my window and could not see 200 yards to the building across the corner.

I am just glad I made it back into the office from the field at about 3. An umbrella would not have done jack against that.
