They say there was no real evidence of abuse. The ME office stated that cocaine use was a contributory factor in his heart disease, and that he had used it days prior to his death, but wasn't under the influence when he died. The Mays family issued statements that questioned the autopsy, because they were not aware that Billy Mays ever using illegal or abusied legal drugs. This may sound like a typical family response, repressing negative aspects of a family member; but those with experience in these matters will tell you how common it is for people close to an addict to be unaware of any problem. It brings to mind the horrific accident recently on the Taconic Parkway, in which Diane Schuler, driving family members from an upstate campsite to Long Island, headed the wrong way on the Taconic for 1.7 miles at 1PM. She crashed head on into another vehicle, killing herself, her 2 year old daughter, three young neices, and all three people in the other vehicle. Only her 5 year old son survived. A broken vodka bottle was found under the seat. Autopsy showed her blood-alcohol-level was twice the legal limit, plus 6 grams undigested alcohol, and THC. Her husband said he never saw her drunk. |

Who's "they?" Initial autopsy results did not turn up evidence of drug abuse, but toxicology tests uncovered the coke in his system. If there is no evidence of abuse, that either means he was VERY careful about it, or he just started. SO "they" is the NY Post. The ME office stated that cocaine use was a contributory factor in his heart disease, and that he had used it days prior to his death, but wasn't under the influence when he died. Hmm, so indirect effect. I would have thought it was a combo, but I can see where the additional stress did the body no good in the long run.... That one is HIGHLY suspect. 1. I think they are trying to make sure the in-laws/relatives do not start a family war over the dead neices/nephews. 2. I think the Husband probably had a nice big argument with her before she left. 3. This had to be more than just a single incident. Not many people, even after a big row with their significant other, would get pissed, get in a car with a bunch of kids, drive around for a few hours drinking hooch, smoke a joint (not necessarily in that order), then proceed to drive full tilt the wrong way on the highway. But that is another story that might be better served with a new thread, and a link to it..... |
