Usually my teachers are very liberal. I was a meteorology major but I have really lost interest so I am changing my major...anyways, my teachers with actual degrees in meteorology essentially blasted the facts laid out in the film. They taught us what is really going on with the Earth....I still think this global warming hysteria is a joke, but that is for another thread.

With regards to Obama, I don't mean young by age, but by experience. A junior senator all of a sudden wants to be president? He would have been better off waiting another couple elections. He doesn't have good odds in this one. His name will also hurt him, let's face it. Barack Hussein Obama, president of the US. Some people don't like that whatsoever.

If Fred Thompson runs, he would have my vote.
I wonder, if Fred announced his candidacy, and Tommy withdrew, how many people would notice the difference?

P.S. Believe it or not, that wasn't the worst joke I ever made on this site.

Well, I don't really care for how Hilary stood by her husband's side even after he wasn't loyal. But that is definitely not the reason I don't support her. Personal affairs shouldn't influence political opinions. If you go to a job interview, you shouldn't be judged on your family history, you should be judged on your credentials, personality, etc.

You might be correct, but on the otherhand, That is what the said about GWBin 2000. He was the non-washington insider, new comer, fresh-face in 2000. His politica life was very new at the time. The people who thought Bush jr. was an outsider must be really f**king retarded. Or easily manipulated by a mass media that wants to see a Republican elected every time. Hello, father was head of the CIA and later POTUS...and they thought the son would be an outsider? Most Americans are dumber than a box of rocks. They believe whatever CNNNBCBSFOXABC News tells them.

^^Prior to becoming elected, GWB's only political positon was as Governer of Texas where he served for exactly 6 years from 1994 to 2000. That is it... 6 years of political office leading up to being president. Now don't get me wrong, I did not vote for him,(heaven forbid) but if you really think back on it, nobody really understood his positions on many of the issues that became prominant during his admisteration. He was thought to be geopolitical isolationist and campaigned against Nation Building. He was thought to be a "compassionate conservative" who favored govt education programs (no child left behind) but otherwise was thought to be a supporter of small govt and fiscal restraint. He also claimed to be conciatory and pedged to work with the opposition party

He turned out to be an foreign policy interventionalist and the first president to promote the concept of pre-emptive military operations. He also turned out to be one of the fierestest advocates (by agenda) of defict spending of any president we ever elected. Few of his supporters would have guessed that in 2000. Because he had no record, he only had his words to stand behind.. and we know the result (EDITED for civility). Also, working with Karl Rove, his administration promoted extreme partisanship as oppossed to the cooperation he pledged.

I only mention all of this bin response to people who favor Obama because he is a fresh face and think that being new to the national political arena is a plus because he has not been corrupted by the political scene. To an extent this is a bit naive in my view... clearly there is downside risk to supporing a candidate who has a very limited record to run on... sometimes in practice perspetive office holders turn out to be different than what you think they are going to be.. I am not saying Obama will turn out that way.. .just that I am not comfortable in the fact that he does not have a record to substantiate my views of him which are very favorable. Sometime we perceive people to be what we hope they are.. without a record it is easy to get fooled.

Seriously. Feels sneaky to me, but then I actually care about what the candidates do and say rather than how telegenic they are. I'm still sad about Howard Dean.

Dean blew it with his "Yeaahhhh!" thing. AMAZING how one little embarassing outburst like that can ruin a guys POLITICAL chance.

He seemed like a pretty on the ball guy.

But once he flubbed, then his other mannerisms became more apparent (and in no way reflective on his ability to govern/run) and sunk him.

And we ended up with Lurch.

Maybe the theory was that the voters were looking for a more responsible father figure or something? I still do not know why the Dems chose Kerry!

In my view, as someone who is not American, but merely observing the current list of potential political runners, there is one person who stands head & shoulders above the rest and his name is Newt Gingrich.

Skip the shortie answer on that. I think Dean had possibility, but he tied his own political shoes together...

What didn't you like about him specifically edd? Most people can only remember that he was kind of spazzy, but not bring anything concrete to the table when discussing him.

I think that is a shame, moreso that that is the actual way people are elected than the fact that he was or not.
