As a Christian statesman, rather than churchman, I would claim that New York Christians can freely exercise their constitutional and God-given rights to free religious speech and free exercise of religion within both church and state assemblies here in New York State.
Although there may be a few posters on this political forum who may disagree with, and object to, such a Christian political claim in their state and city government, I am willing to argue and prove that they would have no more right to speak freely in government than a Christian statesman does, if they deny him his God-given and constitutional right to speak religiously and to exercise and express his religious beliefs and opinions in NYS government. |

The point is that the internet exists, and therefore this person's beliefs must be aired, on a forum that deals with issues on NYC and, perhaps primarily, its built environment. But they don't show much interest in that stuff (every post has been in the news & politics forum), they only wants to argue about religion and politics.
J, please go to a political forum if you want to raise a politico-religio ruckus, and that's not here. You obviously have a point to prove, but barking up this tree won't get you very far. And above all, this thread will probably be locked up. I can't see it going anywhere good. |

There is no point to this thread, except to start a meaningless flame war.
A "Christian Statesman," who would argue religious dogma in a state assembly, would be in clear violation of the 1st Amendment. The intent of the 1st Amendment was not to curtail religious expression, but to prevent the dominant religion from becoming the State Religion. That is why "Christian Statesmen" whine about the separation of church and state. They wouldn't be so vocal if the US was a Muslim country. http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data/c...n/amendment01/ |
