Default Care packages for IED dogs headed to Afghanistan
http://www.stripes.com/blogs/stripes...istan-1.161374

Military dogs get homesick too.

At least that’s what the folks at MoveAmericaForward.org believe. Officials from the conservative action group this week are sending two dozen care packages to military mutts serving in Afghanistan, in an effort to show appreciation for the work they and their handlers perform in the war effort.

The packages include a few bags of dog treats, a set of dog boots (to keep out sand and dust) and a pair of dog goggles (again, sand and dust). Organizers also included, for the handlers, some coffee, cookies, beef jerky, gatorade, and toiletries, along with thank-you notes.

Awww that's so cute! Lol - I think we need more feel good stories or positive stories. I bet dogs like to get some treats now and again. (I wonder if that professor in Syracuse would say it's "shameful" to send military dogs care packages too).

Cool.

We have a homeless guy in town that has a dog. My wife always carries a couple cans of dog food in the car so that whenever she sees him she can give him some nice canned food for the dog.

That's nice of her. You know, I never really thought about sending care packages to military dogs overseas. It's nice to see someone did.

dogs are different. they chose to be with man, and as long as man treats them with love and respect, they're happy. (and by man, i mean humans)
cats? they just don't give a shit

Cats can miss people too. Our family cat - who is more of my little brother's cat - he knew when my brother left for his mob training. He's a weird cat though - he's more of a person than a cat. I think in a past life he was a human and he got reincarnated as our cat (I hope I get that life because he has had it made)!

I've seen dogs get homesick - I've dog - sat for people and seen others who did and the dog you could tell missed the normal surroundings and its owners. So it's possible. Dogs and cats individually have some quirks.

Yeah...she wouldn't give a dime to the guy, but feels bad for the dog...lol

i knew a guy years ago. every year, he liked to do something to give back. so he tried going to a soup kitchen and cooking these really nice gourmet style meals. he said he just got too many complaints.
so, he started buying 50lbs of dog food and bringing them to humane societies. said the folks there were great, and even gave him a hug.
makes sense to me.

That's why I love dogs and distrust those who "hate" dogs. Dogs pretty much don't care what you feed them and never complain...except when they tear stuff up after I leave...their way of saying "I'm bored, let's play!"

Too bad K9s function on a strict diet and play regimine. You can't just give one a treat for kicks.

I feel way more sorry for dogs than people.
