Default Former Rugby Player Claims Stroke Turned Him Gay
http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/1...est=latestnews

A former British rugby player claims a stroke turned him gay overnight, the Daily Mail reported.

Chris Birch, 26, a bank clerk, broke his neck while attempting a back flip and suffered a stroke in 2005. When he woke up, he told his family he was no longer interested in women.

"It sounds strange, but when I came round, I immediately felt different," Birch told the Daily Mail. "I wasn't interested in women any more. I was definitely gay. I had never been attracted to a man before - I'd never even had any gay friends."

His mental transformation was accompanied by a physical one – Birch lost 110 pounds, cut his hair and started dating men.

He also quit his job as a rugby player in order to study hairdressing.

During the months he spent in recovery, Birch said his family and friends hoped he would revert to his former self.

“I had to learn to walk, eat, even speak again and all my family were supporting me, hoping they would see the old Chris come back soon enough,” he told the Mirror.

This was just the most random article I've seen. I'm actually not sure what to think. It almost seems like maybe he was waiting for an excuse to do all this. I know people can change after a stroke and have seen it but for a stroke to turn someone gay? I don't know. I laughed a bit. It is what it is but it seems so random.

Considering how little we actually know about the human brain I would buy this story.

Sometimes people bump their heads and have violent uncontrolled rage for the rest of theirs lives.

Maybe this guy got lucky and just turned gay.

It just seems odd that of all the things he turns stereotypically homosexual...I just found it random was all. I know people can change. My grandpa had a stroke and was unable to talk after it and he did get a bit more aggressive. I think most of that was he got frustrated that no one could really understand him.

There have been a few strokes in my family and they never turn out well. That right there should raise some red flags.

Either way it's kind of strange.

That must've been a hell of a good stroke (the double entendre had to pop up eventually!)

The first indication something had changed was when he awoke and wanted to re-decorate his hospital room.
