THey were the site of a horrendouse chemical fire.

Those on the list are terrible but not local.

Decades later, Superfund remains but does the sense of urgency?

But China's pollution problem is from coal. That will eventually be remedied with other sources of energy. Those cities in the Russia that were dumping sites for sarin and VXgas are going to be much larger & costly clean-ups.

When I visit my family's village in Slovakia they have a similar problem in the winter with wood burning. They have smog in the winter, and when you stand on a mountain you can see smog over other villages.

The other thing is that without our Environmental President, Richard M. Nixon the #1 spot could have been Pittsburgh, Erie, Rochester, etc. If we didn't have anti-pollution devices on our cars everyone in Philly would need a respirator.
