if they are willing to adopt a non-white baby there are quite a few. Domestic adoptions often require that the adoptive parents maintain a relationship with the birth mother, however.
Actually, they did (in fact they ended up adopting a non-white 3 year old).
They'd attempted to adopt a 4-5 year old domestically prior to that (african American) and ran into all manner of problems, from social workers essentially derailing the process because they wanted to place him with a "black family" to the murky issue of the mother re-claiming him, the father suddenly turning up, grandparents, aunts and uncles contesting the procedure, etc.
