Default DCC meeting deferred till Wednesday
ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) summoned by the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to discuss the restructuring of relations with the US and the restoration of the NATO supply route has been postponed till Wednesday, a statement from the Prime Minister House stated. The committee will deliberate upon adopting the recommendation given by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) jointly approved by the Senate and National Assembly last week. The session would be attended by the federal ministers who are its members, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the services chiefs. It is pertinent to mention that President Asif Ali Zardari would be attending the NATO summit in Chicago scheduled to be held on May 20-21 where he would be meeting with various heads of states of NATO member states including US President Barack Obama at the sidelines of the two days summit. The Government of Pakistan had suspended the NATO supply to Afghanistan in protest following the Salala check posts attack that resulted in the martyrdom of some 24 Pakistan Army personnel.
