“Ugh! All the wrong people get shot. Why doesn’t this kind of thing happen at a Sarah Palin event?” He/She isn't upset that people got shot---just that the WRONG people got shot. If it were Palin, they'd be dancin' in the streets... but peacefully, of course.

Death threats against Palin increase

By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 1/13/11 7:06 AM EST

Death threats against Sarah Palin have reached an unprecedented level in recent days, an aide says.

In the wake of Saturday’s shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others, the aide said that threats against Palin have spiked, ABC News reported.

The aide did not offer further details on the threats or whether Palin has taken additional security precautions.

Palin’s use of gun-related language and imagery, including a map that marked Giffords’ district with crosshairs, have provoked debate about national political discourse, even as evidence mounts that alleged gunman Jared Lee Loughner was driven by inner demons and his personal sentiments about the congresswoman.

Palin on Wednesday condemned journalists and pundits for “manufactur[ing] a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn.”

A video posted on YouTube earlier this week – and since removed – featured a collection of threats made against Palin on Twitter since the shooting.

“Can somebody please shoot Sarah Palin,” read one. Another said: “Ugh! All the wrong people get shot. Why doesn’t this kind of thing happen at a Sarah Palin event?”

Honestly, I don't wish for Sarah Palin to be dead. I would just like her out of the national political scene, for which she is woefully unprepared.

That said, ain't karma a bitch?

Well, her video statement this week will go a long way toward easing her out of the national political scene, and once she's anonymous again, she'll hopefully no longer be bothered. She should have taken the deal for a second season of her TLC show and cashed out while she could. During her last book tour, turnout dwindled quite a bit, especially in her home state of Alaska.

She's at about minute 12 of her 15.

I wish I could be as optimistic about her statement as you are, Richard. I have far too much faith in her supporters to forget/ignore her weaknesses to think that it will really matter to them. Beyond that, there are too many media outlets that will continue to seek ratings through her.

Frankly, I think we're all stuck with her, like it or not.

I could see her as an RNC or NRSC person. She's good at raising money.
